The Alkali EP is exclusive to the Octagonal Records store. It includes 2 new tracks, Skeleton Dance and Beast, which were recorded during the making of the Last Things album. Also included is an early version of the album track Tin Box with the original title; A Tin Box Stuffed With Souls. Ben describes the EP tracks as "crazy little mundane fairy tales".

Alkali is the third single from Minute Taker's critically acclaimed sophomore album Last Things and is accompanied by Minute Taker’s first music video. The Alkali video was premiered by The 405 who described it as a “beautiful guitar-percussive” track with a video that “fits the song perfectly”. The video features clips from the 1922 expressionist film Nosferatu, interwoven with degraded self-portrait footage and silent film-era narrational captions.
